This park is modelled on those of the Heian period style gardens in a vast landscape. The father of Murasaki Shikibu (a famous writer during the Heian period) and Tametoki Fujiwara came and lived in Takefu, where they worked at the local government office for a year as officials. This park is made in the style of noble residences in the Heian period or ‘Shinden-zukuri’ style, creating ponds and artificial hills with a background of borrowed landscape of the local mountains surrounding the Takefu basin. The gold coloured statue of Murasaki Shikibu shines with particular brilliance in this garden.
