Castle Festival

Festival at Obama Shrine dedicated to Lord Tadakatsu Sakai

The Castle Festival is held annually on May 2 and 3 at Obama Shrine, which is dedicated to Tadakatsu Sakai, the feudal lord of Wakasa Province.

In addition to the heroic o-daiko drum performance, the "Unohama Lion," which has been designated an Intangible Folk Cultural Asset of Fukui Prefecture, is particularly famous.

The Unhama Shishi depicts a love struggle between two male lions for a female lioness, with the sound of a flute and the heroic dance.

The sound of gongs and drums echoes in the fresh green Obama Castle Town, and the sound of the flute blends in.

Please come and join us.
