Sotomo (Scenic Coastline)
Located along the northern coast of the Uchitomi Peninsula, these sea caves are a work of art sculpted by the rough waves of the Sea of Japan. Stretching for approximately 6 kilometers, the area features stunning cliffs and a series of unique rock formations, archways, and caves—including Jigokumon (Hell’s Gate), Amikake-iwa (Net-Hanging Rock), Meoto-kame-iwa (Husband-and-Wife Turtle Rocks), Shiraito Falls, and the “Great Gate” and “Small Gate”—that combine to create a magnificent landscape, making it one of the most iconic scenic spots in Wakasa Bay Quasi-National Park. You can fully enjoy this spectacular scenery aboard the “Sotomo Cruise,” which departs from Wakasa Fisherman’s Wharf.
