MICE @ Fukui

Located between Kyoto and Kanazawa, on the coast of the Japan Sea.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen Line from Tokyo opened in 2024, so now it is a 2h 51m direct journey with no transfer.

By bus, 2h from Nagoya, and 2h 40m from Osaka.

Close to all major airports with direct flights from your country!

Home to Japan's largest Zen monastery, Eiheiji Temple, Fukui is known within Japan as a Zen sanctuary, where you can see monks doing their training, try Zazen seated meditation for free, and even spend the night as part of a shukubo, or temple stay, experience.

The spirit of Zen you can also witness through the prefecture’s 7 traditional crafts.

Each craft is centered around a craftsman village, where not only can you get your hands on these beautiful handmade items, which are much cheaper at the source than once exported abroad, you can also experience different fun workshops for each.

In addition to centuries-old traditional crafts, Fukui is also home to countless small, innovative businesses that offer an expertise and techniques only they can provide the world over. Fukui used to be at the center of the global silk trade, and is now famous for its technical fabrics, chemistry, robotics, and even space enterprises! It is also here that over 90% of all eyewear frames made in Japan are produced. We at the Tourism Federation can organize technical visits to some of these companies.

Because of its exquisite food culture, especially (but not only!) seafood, Fukui is one of the very few places in Japan that have been offering foodstuff to the imperial court for centuries.

Located in the middle of the gorgeous Japanese countryside, Fukui offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors, including snow activities, skiing and snowboarding lessons in English, farming and fishing experiences, one of Japan’s longest ziplines, camping & glamping, and so much more!

Fukui’s largest hot spring resort, Awara Onsen, is home to over 20 something ryokan traditional inns big and small, most of which offer rooms with a private bath, sometimes an outdoor private bath, with some now accepting guests with tattoos, too!

At some of the ryokan inns, you can reserve the whole hotel (or one floor, for example) for your group only.

Fukui is also home to many business hotels, and international hotel chains, and is generally a more affordable option that its more famous neighbors, Kyoto, Osaka, and Kanazawa, for example.

Fukui, where most dinosaur fossils discovered in Japan were found, is home to one of the world’s three leading dinosaur museums, with over 50 full-length dinosaur skeletons, dinosaur robots, a research facility with several hands-on activities, and an outdoor site, where you can try digging up your own fossil in the actual place they found all those dinosaurs!

In Fukui, dinosaurs are so big that we also have Dinosaur hotels, dinosaur trains, dinosaur buses.

We also have our share of unique venues, including a beautiful Japanese garden (Yokokan Garden) located right by Fukui Station, where you could have tea ceremony.

You could also charter one of our local trains for your group only, and have a dinner or event on there.

Contact us for more!

We will help arrange attractions and performances for your group, and can offer a subsidy to help cover the cost!

We can also introduce you to restaurants for group dinners, etc.
