Hakuryu Falls Park is located along National Route 305, which runs along the Echizen coast at the northernmost tip of Minami-Echizen Town. Legend holds that a dragon, which once protected the boat carrying nineteen people who drifted ashore at Nukaura from Izumo Province, ascended to this waterfall to heal its body in the warm pool atop the mountain. The water cascading through the trees provides a refreshing sensation. To the south of this park lies the memorial site for the special service ship "Kanto," which ran aground and was wrecked off the coast of Nukaura in 1924 while en route to Maizuru. A memorial stone bearing the ship's name and crew members' names stands within the park grounds.
