Third Peak
Mount Haku is one of the peaks in the Hakusan Range located in the southwestern part of Hakusan National Park and is famous as the highest mountain in Fukui Prefecture. San-no-mine is said to have been named either for its historical significance as the "three peaks" of the Echizen, Kaga, and Hida provinces, or sequentially along the Zenjōji Trail from Ishitorishiro in Gifu Prefecture: Ichino-mine (1,839m), Ninomine (1,962.3m), and San-no-mine. As a 2,000-meter-class mountain, it is located at the farthest southwestern point in Japan, and alpine plants such as dwarf pine and Hakusan cherry can be seen here, with this area marking their southwestern limit.
■Due to the large-scale disaster (slope collapse, collapse of Zengoro Bridge) that occurred in March 2023 and the impact of heavy rains in July, Prefectural Road 173 (Kamikoike-Katsuhara Line) connecting to the Karikomi Pond area is closed to traffic from Hatogayu. (Access to Hatogayu itself is possible.)
