Cat Island (Yamabushi Rock)

Just like Totoro~

In the rice paddies of the Warabyo district, there is a grove of trees shaped just like a cat’s face. Because of its shape, it is known as “Cat Island” or “Cat Grove.”

Within the grove lies a massive rock said to have been hurled there during the eruption of Mt. Kyōgatake; it is called “Yamabushi Rock” based on a legend that mountain ascetics once practiced asceticism there.

*Please Note

The paths within and around the Cat Island grove are on private property. Please do not enter without permission.
Additionally, the surrounding roads are farm roads. Please be careful not to interfere with farming activities.
