The Megane Festival is a one-of-a-kind event held for over 10 years in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture—a major eyewear production hub—where eyewear enthusiasts from across Japan gather.

Marking the 120th anniversary of the eyeglass production area in 2025, the theme is "Connecting ○ and ○." Aiming to be an event that connects people, things, and events—various bonds and circles—with all who love eyeglasses, transcending generations and positions, it will be held at the Megane Museum and surrounding special venues on Saturday, September 20th and Sunday, September 21st.

The event features: 

* "Megane Kuyo" (Eyeglass Memorial Service): A gathering to honor and commemorate eyeglasses that you no longer use. 

* "Meet! Meet! Megane!" and "Meet! Meet! Megane! for Kids" booths: Discover unique eyeglasses only found in the production region. 

* "Mega Exhibition" where you can experience the techniques and wisdom of eyeglass-making professionals.

As well as sales of eyeglass-themed goods and gourmet food, workshops, stage events, and this year's renewed popular competition "Megamori" (Eyeglass Pile)!

Additionally, within Sabae City, the "Sabae 3 Major Festivals" will be held simultaneously: the SDGs Fest (Venue: Nishiyama Park) and the Sabae Monzen Festival (Venue: Matsugaoka Shrine & its approach). Shuttle buses will connect the Megane Fest with each event venue. Take this opportunity to enjoy sightseeing in Sabae!
