Site of Takeda Kōunsai's Honjin (Shinbo Jinya)

On December 11, 1864 (Genji 1), the Mito Tengu Party crossed Kinome Pass and arrived at Shinbo Village (present-day Shinbo, Tsuruga City), coming face-to-face with the Kaga Domain forces encamped in Habara Village (present-day Habara, Tsuruga City). However, the Mito Tengu Party, wishing to avoid conflict, repeatedly negotiated with the Kaga Domain to prevent battle.

These negotiations took place in the building that stands on the site of the Takeda Kōunsai Honjin. Originally part of the Tsukatani family residence, who operated a wholesaler business at the time, it is a small-scale shoin-zukuri style building. It features a gate, a shikidai (ceremonial platform), a lower hall, and an upper hall. A distinctive feature of the building is the san-tsu-to (three-tiered bracket set) assembly on the pillars above the shikidai.
