The beautiful two-story wooden school building remains, offering a nostalgic retro scene during cherry blossom season and the fresh green of spring.

The site of Hagino Elementary School's Oimatsu Branch School is the former school building located in the Oimatsu district of Echizen Town, Fukui Prefecture.

The Oimatsu district is a mountain village nestled in a valley about a 15-minute drive up from the foothills. Local lore tells of Heike refugees who settled here.

It opened in 1941 (Showa 16) and closed in 2004 (Heisei 16).
