=====================

While there are various theories, it is said that the origin of "Tamagawa Kannon" began when a fisherman enshrined an Eleven-Faced Kannon statue that had been caught in his net at this location.
This Kannon statue is in the Tang style and is said to be the work of the great priest Taichō.

It was originally housed within a natural cave, but after a collapse incident in 1989 (Heisei 1), it was moved to its current location in 1994 (Heisei 6) for safety reasons.
Passing through the torii gate by the sea, the main hall is located inside an artificial concrete tunnel, creating a mysterious atmosphere.

In late December 2015, the "Association for Improving the Kamisaki Area," composed of local residents, installed Echizen-yaki ceramic lanterns inside, creating an even more fantastical space. (Lighting hours: 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM)
