Corridor Cafe
Founded by the renowned 14th-century monk Ryōnyo, this temple stands as one of the foremost temples of the Jōdo sect. It is also a place associated with the Tokugawa family, where a study hall was built through the donation of Lord Yūki Hideyasu, lord of Fukui Castle. Its study hall garden, spanning over 4,600 square meters, is designated as a National Scenic Spot. This study garden is said to embody the Pure Land of Bliss on earth. Its fresh greenery and autumn foliage, especially when illuminated by the morning sun, create a scene that feels like another world. A notable feature is the large number of cultural properties, including many Important Cultural Properties, that were relocated here from the capital to escape the Ōnin War.
In this space woven by the garden, which reveals different expressions throughout the seasons, and the gentle breeze blowing from Mount Ohara, which serves as the borrowed landscape, you can enjoy matcha tea and kaiseki cuisine. After your meal, you can also enjoy strolling through the garden.
