Kehi no Matsubara Pine Grove
A landscape passed down through the ages: One of Japan’s Three Great Pine Forests
The Kehi no Matsubara Pine Grove, stretching to the innermost part of Tsuruga Bay, is a scenic spot renowned for its white sands and green pines. It is counted among Japan’s three great pine groves and has been designated a National Scenic Spot. Once the sacred grounds of Kehi Jingu Shrine, it was confiscated by Oda Nobunaga and later became the domain forest of the Obama Domain during the Edo period. The landscape, featuring a mix of red and black pines, spans approximately 400,000 square meters and delights visitors with its ever-changing beauty throughout the seasons.
