Feel like an eyeglass craftsman! Kids' eyeglass-making experience
Highlights
Sabae City in Fukui Prefecture is the City of Eyeglasses! Stepping off at Sabae Station, eyeglass motifs greet you throughout the town. Plus Jack is a rare workshop in this eyeglass city, handling every step of eyeglass production entirely in-house.

One signature feature of Plus Jack's in-house brand eyewear is the temple (earpiece) crafted from specialized materials. Designed to flex and adapt to any facial structure, it eliminates the discomfort often associated with wearing glasses.

They are also known for products like pin badges made from acetate—the same material used for eyeglasses—and the "effe" disaster whistle, useful for mountain climbing and emergencies. This workshop values creating products that support people and serve as aids.
Experience Details
We offer a semi-custom eyeglass-making experience designed with the hope that even children trying glasses for the first time will grow to love them. This experience allows you to participate in part of the actual eyeglass-making process.

During this experience, parents and children can create matching glasses together. If interested, please feel free to mention "We'd like to make glasses together" when applying.
Upon arriving at Plus Jack, start with a factory tour. It's time for an adventure to see where glasses are made. You can observe the artisans' handiwork up close.

You might even meet the little glasses-making elves.
After the tour, it's time to start making your glasses! Choose the shape, size, and color of each part—the frame, temples, and earpieces—to customize your glasses to your liking. The real thrill of this experience is doing things you can't do during regular shopping! You can even choose different colors for the left and right temples or earpieces.

After selecting your parts, you'll also get to experience tasks like tightening the tiny screws on the glasses. For parts that might be difficult for younger children, parents can assist them.

Even with surprisingly detailed work, children become completely focused! They'll feel like eyeglass craftsmen. The glasses are finally adjusted by our craftsmen and handed over to you on the spot.

This eyeglass-making experience fosters a sense of attachment to objects and nurtures the feeling of cherishing them. Eyeglasses protect your child's precious eyes. Why not gift your child this special experience of choosing and creating their own pair?
