Monzaemon Chikamatsu Monument
Chikamatsu Monzaemon, famous for works such as "Sonezaki Shinjū," was born as the second son of Sugimori Nobuyoshi, a samurai of the Fukui domain, and spent his youth in Yoshie Town. The literary monument in the front garden of the Tachimachi Community Center bears an inscription of Chikamatsu's death poem.
