Enshō-ji Temple
Originally a Shingon temple called Tōmatsu-ji, it was located in Dōdani across the Minami River. It is said that the daughter of Uryū Minbu, lord of Echizen Somayama Castle, became a nun and entered this temple. In the first year of the Bun'an era (1464), it was moved here, rebuilt as a Rinzai temple, and renamed Enshō-ji. The main hall enshrines the principal image, a seated statue of Dainichi Nyorai, and a standing statue of Fudō Myōō (Important Cultural Property).
The temple pond is home to Japanese tree frogs. If you visit during the rainy season, you might be lucky enough to see their eggs.
