Kumagawa Checkpoint

The guard post at the entrance to the post town has been restored to its original location. It is a rare historical structure in Japan, preserved in its original position within a designated Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Inside the building, displays include mannequins of officials and tools such as bows and arrows, and spears.

Getting There
From JR Kaminaka Station, take the JR bus bound for Omi-Imazu and get off at "Kumagawa" stop. It's about a 3-minute walk from there. From Wakasa-Kaminaka IC on the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway, it's about a 15-minute drive.
