Fukui City History Museum
The Fukui City History Museum offers visitors a look at the history of Fukui. Exhibits on display include items found buried in ancient tombs, and animations that show the World War II air raids of Fukui. Hands-on workshops are available.
The permanent exhibition focuses on materials from the Matsudaira family, feudal lords of Fukui, alongside displays depicting life in the castle town and its experiences of wartime devastation and earthquakes. Highlights include restored models of Fukui Castle's main keep and the Ninety-Nine Bridges, as well as computer-generated imagery exhibits. Furthermore, at the "Henshin Echizenya" experience, visitors can try on Edo-period (1603-1868) clothing and tools, offering an enjoyable way to learn about history.
The "Fukui Castle Toneri Gate Ruins" exhibit, located north of the museum building, has been restored alongside the moat and earthen rampart ruins discovered prior to construction.
