Former Uchiyama Residence
Nationally Registered Tangible Cultural Property
This site was created by dismantling, reconstructing, and preserving the former residence of the Uchiyama family to commemorate the achievements of Shichirōemon Ryōkyū, a senior retainer who devoted himself to the financial rehabilitation of the Ōno Domain during the late Edo period, and his younger brother, Ryōtaka. The main house was built around 1882, while the detached wing, connected by a covered walkway, was constructed during the Taisho era. It is a single-story, gabled-roofed sukiya-style study and was registered as a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2018.
From spring to fall, visitors can enjoy the cool, summer-themed shoji screens, and in winter, colorful painted shoji screens.
