Former Uchiyama Family Samurai Residence
Nationally Registered Tangible Cultural Property
This structure was dismantled, restored, and preserved from the former Uchiyama family residence to commemorate the great achievements of Uchiyama Shichirōemon Ryōkyū, a senior retainer who worked tirelessly to rebuild the finances of the Ōno domain during the late Edo period, and his younger brother, Ryūsaburō Takamasa. The main house was built around 1882, while the detached building connected by a covered walkway was constructed during the Taisho era. This single-story, gabled-roof sukiya-style study was registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property in 2018.
Visitors can enjoy the cool summer paper screens from spring to autumn and the colorful painted screens in winter.
