Iris Garden by Lake Kitagata
The Iris Garden on the shores of Lake Kitagata is one of the finest in Japan. From early June for about a month, approximately 200,000 irises of 300 varieties bloom in full splendor. In mid-June, the Awara Kitagata Lakeside Iris Festival is held, featuring local performing arts, a market for regional specialties, and lake cruises.
