Shihi Magaibutsu Engravings
Buddhist statues painted on the rock face at the entrance to the Shibi district, home to the head temple Eiheiji. Beneath the large rock formation jutting out from the east side of Sogen Bridge over the Eiheiji River, Jizo statues, stone monuments, and memorial pagodas are neatly arranged. On the vertical rock face (andesite) immediately beside them, nine statues—including seated and standing Jizo Bosatsu figures and a seated Seigannon Bosatsu—are carved in line relief over a span of approximately 32.3 meters.
