Fukui City Designated Cultural Property: Osagoe Folk House Museum
Five Edo-period dwellings and one board warehouse are displayed outdoors.
Osagoe Folk House Museum is a traditional village where visitors can glimpse the lives of Fukui's ancestors. Five representative old houses from around the 18th century—including those of wealthy farmers and village headmen—have been relocated and restored, along with earthen storehouses, ash huts, and outhouses. Visitors can freely enter each house. Inside, old furniture and household tools are displayed just as they were in the past, allowing you to feel the lives of people long ago as if you've slipped back in time.
