Habutae Mochi's Hometown Maeda Seika Co., Ltd.
Founded in 1954, this long-established Japanese confectionery shop in Eiheiji Town, Fukui Prefecture, is a purveyor to the Grand Head Temple Eiheiji. It is a "department store of Habutae mochi," offering the three major signature sweets—Habutae mochi, Habutae furoshiki, and Orifuku—along with over 15 varieties of Habutae mochi in total. <>Fukui's renowned confection, Habutae Mochi, with over 300 years of history, was created in homage to Fukui Prefecture's famous silk fabric, Habutae-ori. Habutae-ori is a fabric woven by alternately crossing the "warp threads" and "weft threads" without twisting them, characterized by its softness and lustrous sheen. Hanbira Mochi is an elegant treat that allows you to experience this fine luster and texture.<>Our main store is a factory outlet, where you are welcome to freely tour the historic Hanbira Mochi production facility. We also offer samples of freshly made Hanbira Mochi and tea, so please stop by for a travel break or to select souvenirs.<>
