Honzan Seishō-ji Temple
Seishōji Temple, associated with Saint Shinran and cherished as "Sabae's Head Temple," is one of the Ten Head Temples of Jōdo Shinshū, alongside Kyoto's Higashi Honganji and Nishi Honganji. The Gokekidō Hall at the center of the temple grounds is the largest wooden structure in the prefecture. The four-legged gate at the main entrance is also known as the "Gate Where Birds Do Not Perch." The carving of the "Rushing Dragon" is said to be the work of Jingo Sō, the sculptor who created the Sleeping Cat at Nikko Tōshō-gū.
