This row of cherry trees is said to have served as the inspiration for a scene in a popular manga. During cherry blossom season, lanterns are lit, and many visitors come to view the flowers. In March 2019, the area was given the nickname “Arata-zaka” in honor of Arata Wataya, a character from *Chihayafuru* who lives in Awara City, and a stone monument featuring a karuta card was erected there.
