On September 1 every year, the ban on bottom trawl fishing is lifted in Echizen Town, and this marks the beginning of the season when Echizen Town catches more fish than any other time of the year.

The Echizen Fish Festival, one of the largest fish events in Fukui Prefecture, is held during this season at the Michi no Eki Roadside Station Echizen!

The festival offers a variety of events to familiarize visitors with fish and the fishing industry, such as "Catching Fish," "Boarding a Fishing Boat," and "Petting Aquarium," as well as a market selling freshly caught, fresh seafood and seafood gourmet dishes.

A town with good crabs, a local specialty, also has good fish!
Please come to Echizen Town, bustling with bottom trawl fishing, to enjoy the tastes of autumn!

Fishing Boat Ride

【Description】Sailing offshore on a fishing boat (about 30 minutes)
【Time】Drive at any time from 10:00 to 14:00.
【Fee】1,000 yen per person
【Conditions】Above elementary school students.
【Application】Receipt at the boarding gate (Echizen Kuriya Fishing Port)
　The route and boarding times are subject to change due to weather conditions.

Catching Fish
 【Content】Try your hand at catching fish such as yellowtail. You can take home the fish you catch.
　　　　One person (one group) catches one fish and that's it.
【Time】3 times a day (both days)
　　　　1st time: 10:30 -
　　　　2nd time：12:00～
　　　　3rd time: 13:30～
　　　　*40 people per session x 3 sessions (120 people in total)
　　　　 Number of participants is subject to change depending on the fish situation on the day of the event.
【Fee】1,000 yen per person
Conditions: Elementary school students and younger
【Application】Lottery by lot
　　　　Lottery tickets will be distributed at the venue headquarters.
　　　　Lottery tickets will be distributed one hour before the start of each session.
　　　　One ticket per family (per group) will be distributed.
　　　　Distribution ends 30 minutes before the start of each session.
　　　　Winners will be announced 15 minutes before the start of each session.

 【Content】Try your hand at the fresh fish auction and get fresh fish at a discount.
【Time】Starts at 14:15
【Fee】Participation is free of charge *Fish auctioned off will be paid separately.
【Application】Please call for participation before the start of the event at the venue.

Echizen Garei (flathead flounder) Handling Class

【Content】To teach how to cleanly and easily catch Echizen Garei!
【Time】Two times a day (both days)
　　　　1st session: from 11:00 / 2nd session: from 13:00
　　　　You can taste the Echizen Garei that you have cut!
　　　　About 15 groups each time.
【Fee】1,000 yen per group (experience fee)
【Application] First-come, first-served basis (Applications will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. at the venue headquarters)

Petting Aquarium

　Fish and shellfish from Echizen Town are displayed in an aquarium and can be touched freely.

Gacha Gacha at the Echizen Antenna Shop of Michi no Eki Roadside Station Echizen!
　Purchases of 1,000 yen or more at the shop will be eligible to win original goods at the Gacha Gacha (toy machine).
　Original goods will be given as a gift with a "Gacha Gacha."
Painting experience by Kodoen at the entrance of the Michi no Eki Roadside Station Echizen Antenna Shop (for a fee).
