Starting September 1, bottom trawling season opens in Echizen Town, marking the time of year when the town catches the most fish.

And during this time, the "Echizen Fish Festival," one of Fukui Prefecture's largest fish-themed events, is held at Michi-no-Eki Echizen!

It’s two days packed with fish-themed activities, including “fish catching experiences,” “fishing boat tours,” and a “hands-on aquarium,” as well as a market selling fresh, just-caught seafood and seafood gourmet dishes. A town where the crab is delicious is sure to have delicious fish too! Come to Echizen Town, bustling with bottom trawl fishing, to enjoy the flavors of autumn!

On-site sales of fresh seafood caught in Echizen and seafood gourmet items

◎ Try Your Hand at Fishing

・Fishing Boat Ride Experience

[Details] Board a fishing boat and sail out to sea (approx. 30 minutes) 

[Time] Runs continuously from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM 

[Fee] 1,000 yen per person 

[Requirements] Elementary school students and older 

[Registration] Sign up at the boarding area (Echizen Kuriya Fishing Port)
*Routes and boarding times are subject to change depending on weather conditions.

・Fish Catching
[Details] Experience catching fish such as yellowtail with your hands. You may take home the fish you catch. 

*The activity ends once each person (or group) has caught one fish. 

[Time] 3 sessions per day (on both days) 

1st session: 10:30 AM– 

2nd session: 12:00 PM– 

3rd session: 1:30 PM– 

*40 people per session × 3 sessions(Total: 120 people)
*The number of participants may change depending on the fish supply on the day.

[Details] Learn how to fillet Echizen flounder cleanly and easily!

*You can sample the prepared Echizen flounder　　　　

*Approx. 15 groups per session 

[Fee] 1,000 yen per group (experience fee) 

[Registration] First-come, first-served (Registration begins at 9:00 AM at the venue headquarters)

・Interactive Aquarium: Fish and shellfish from Echizen Town are displayed in tanks, and you can touch them freely.

◎ Other Events

・Gachapon at the Roadside Station Echizen Antenna Shop! 

Customers who spend 1,000 yen or more at the Roadside Station Echizen Antenna Shop will receive
original goods and other prizes from the gachapon machine.

・At the Roadside Station Echizen entrance, enjoy a "Ga-o" painting experience hosted by Kodoen (fee required).
