Awara Hot Water Festival
This is a nationally rare event in which hot water from the Awara hot springs is poured over a portable shrine.
Children and adults alike take hot water pails and water guns and pour, pour, pour hot water on the portable shrine!
There will also be an evening of folk dancing and a manju-maki (a Japanese steamed bun filled with red bean paste). Anyone who comes to the venue on the day of the festival is welcome to participate.
The festival is held on the 8th and 9th of August (the day the hot water springs) every year.
