Echizen Chiyotsuru Museum (Echizen Cutlery Promotion Facility)
National Designated Facility for the Preservation and Succession of Echizen Forged Cutlery Techniques
Echizen-style cutlery, designated as a National Traditional Craft, traces its origins to Chiyotsuru Kuniyasu, who settled in Echizen Fuchu approximately 700 years ago.
Taking its name from Chiyotsuru, the Echizen Chiyotsuru Museum is a facility dedicated to promoting the preservation of Echizen-style forged cutlery techniques and nurturing successors.
In addition to exhibits on the history and techniques of Echizen-style cutlery and special exhibitions, the workshop building offers live demonstrations of forging techniques like fire forging and hands-on experiences like sharpening classes. (Scheduled irregularly)
