Zengonzan Koboji Temple
Echizen City, where Murasaki Shikibu spent about a year and a half. Our temple adjoins the east side of Murasaki Shikibu Park. It is a rare Shingon Buddhist temple in the area.
First, five Heian-period (794-1185) character signs welcome visitors. Upon entering the grounds, the Sacred Waterfall is on the left. Surrounding it is sand from the 88 Sacred Places of Shikoku, allowing visitors to perform the sand-stepping hundred-times pilgrimage.
On the right is a training hall enshrining a seated statue of Shakyamuni Buddha brought from Thailand.
The main hall enshrines the principal image, Kobo Daishi, along with secret Buddha statues such as the Zenkoji Nyorai, Fudo Myo-o, and Mizuko Kuko Kannon Bosatsu.
Group Prayer Sessions: We offer joyful Dharma talks featuring the Heart Sutra prayer and chanting. Please inquire for details.
