Kanazu Festival

You can see the spectacular floats!

The Kanazu Festival, a traditional event held every July. Floats and children's dances parade through the town.
Another highlight of the Kanazu Festival is the Honjin Decorations, boasting a tradition of about 400 years. These decorations originated in the Edo period (1603-1868) when local communities welcomed feudal lords on their mandatory visits to Edo (Tokyo) by creating decorations made from everyday household items. Visiting the Honjin Decorations, meticulously crafted by each of the 18 districts of the town, is another delightful part of the festival experience.
