Hagaji Temple
Among the many Buddhas, the wooden standing statue of the Eleven-Faced Kannon Bodhisattva at Haga Temple in Obama (height 146.4 cm, early Heian period, Important Cultural Property) is particularly beautiful. It is said to be modeled after Empress Gensho. Haga Temple is said to have been founded by Gyoki in 716 by imperial decree.
A cute goshuin stamp book has also made its appearance. The back view is adorable too.
The illustrations are by Adachi Naoki, who is active locally with the Hotoke-chan series.
The concept is: 'Buddhas are babies, babies are Buddhas.'
