Imajo-shuku Historic Post Town

An Important Old Post Town along the Routes to Fukui

Imajo-shuku was once a major post town along the routes that led into Fukui, which connected the region to Kyoto and modern-day Tokyo. Visitors can still see elements of the old townscape, such as narrow townhouses, along a kilometer-long stretch of road here.

The town still retains the atmosphere of the old days, with a rustic atmosphere. Turning a corner and stepping into a back alley, you will feel as if you have stepped back in time to the inns of a period drama.
