Hakusan Shrine (Ikeda Town)
A shrine quietly standing behind towering trees
Shizuhara Village's Shirayama Shrine stands quietly, with ancient cedar and zelkova trees of unknown age standing side by side before its torii gate.
Until the late Edo period, Noh plays were dedicated here, and many ancient Noh masks, costumes, and props remain, testifying to its former prosperity.
Every year on February 17th, the "O-men-san Festival" is held at the worship hall of Hakusan Shrine. This celebratory event showcases the Noh and Kyogen masks used since that era to visitors, passing on the traditions of the past.
