Shamisen Experience
Mikuni Minato Kitamae Street is home to a stylish establishment where shamisen music and Edo-style folk songs play. You can enjoy matcha while listening to Edo folk song performances. In the tatami room, you can even experience playing the shamisen yourself. It's a delightful experience that lets you feel the allure of Mikuni Minato, famously described as "how stylish is Mikuni Minato?"
Inside the shop, photographs of geisha from the era when this neighborhood was a hanamachi (flower town) are displayed. Looking at the old hanamachi rankings that still exist today, Mikuni is listed next to Shinagawa and before Yotsuya Shinjuku. This fact alone allows you to imagine the bustling past when the sound of the shamisen could be heard throughout the town.
