Katsuyama Nature School

【Just 10 minutes by car from the Dinosaur Museum!】Katsuyama Nature School: Touch 4.6 Billion Years of Earth

Katsuyama, Fukui—a globally significant site where 80% of Japan's dinosaur fossils have been discovered.

At Katsuyama Nature School, we utilize the field of "nature, environment, and topography" in the great outdoors
offering four hands-on learning programs that engage all five senses to explore Earth's formation and natural environment.
We offer four hands-on learning programs.

We invite you to experience these programs as a starting point for learning about our planet and contemplating its future.

<Four Hands-On Learning Programs>
 ● Green Classroom
Learn about the importance of forests that supply oxygen—essential for human life—
  and forests that provide water.
This is an opportunity to experience environmental issues as something that directly concerns you.

 ● Stone Earth
Using a model of the Earth, we explain its internal structure, including the mantle,
and explain the existence of Earth from a cosmic perspective.
Learn about the greatness and mechanisms of the "miracle planet Earth."

 ●Path of the Earth
A 460-meter nature trail narrates Earth's 4.6-billion-year history from its birth.
Experience the Earth covered in hot magma at its birth, the frozen Earth of the Ice Age where dinosaurs lived,
and the frozen Earth during the Ice Age.

 ●Barefoot Path
Walk barefoot with your eyes closed over grass, gravel, and logs
to experience the natural environment with all five senses.
Sounds, smells, textures... rediscover the Earth through diverse sensations.

At Katsuyama Nature School, you can engage in learning related to the SDGs.

From the perspective of the "17 Goals to Change the World (SDGs),"
consider what actions you can take in your daily life to improve the environment.
as part of environmental education for children.
