Hatsu-Uchi "First Hammering of the New Year" Ceremony at Takefu Knife Village
Held at Takefu Knife Village at midnight on New Year's Day
The "Hatsuuchi" ritual, which has been held at midnight on New Year's Day every year since its establishment, will be held again this year at Takefu Knife Village, a cooperative workshop for Echizen Uchihamono, a traditional craft of Fukui.
Three craftsmen, dressed in white and wearing a kasuboshi hat, forge a single blade in the traditional forging method called "koshiki forgei". Please come and see the powerful and heroic appearance of these craftsmen.
The "Hatsuuchi 2025 Photo Contest" will also be held. Please enter this contest as well.
