Komaru Castle Ruins
This is the site of a flatland castle built in 1575 by Sassa Narimasa, a retainer of Oda Nobunaga and one of the Three Lords of Fuchu. It is a prefecturally designated historic site. At the time, inner and outer moats were constructed, and the entire castle area is said to have measured 300m east-west and 350m north-south. Today, only the main keep site and parts of the earthen ramparts and moats remain. This area was once the site of a large temple during the Hakuho period, and foundation stones from this ancient temple were used in the stone walls. Additionally, inscribed roof tiles depicting Maeda Toshiie suppressing a peasant uprising were excavated from the earthen ramparts. The cherry blossoms in spring and the autumn foliage are spectacular.
