Gosetsu-ji Temple
The couple Yosano Tekkan and Akiko are also famous for visiting here and leaving behind fourteen poems.
Gosetsu-ji Temple, with its majestic red-tiled mountain gate constructed from zelkova wood, is the head temple of the Shin Buddhism Izumiji sect. Founded by Shinran Shonin in Kyoto's Izumiji region in the first year of the Tenpuku era (1374), it was relocated to its present site during the Keicho era (1596-1615). Within its spacious grounds, the Main Hall, Amida Hall, Sutra Repository, and Bell Tower stand in orderly arrangement, naturally evoking a solemn mood.
