Takeshi Public Hall Memorial Museum, Echizen City
Echizen City Comprehensive Museum introducing the history and culture of Echizen City
Completed in 1929, the Takefu Public Hall is a representative Western-style building from the early Showa period. It served as the town hall (city hall) from 1934 to 1955, and subsequently as a public hall, truly becoming a symbolic building for Takefu. Due to deterioration, reconstruction work was carried out while preserving its romantic exterior, and it was reborn as a memorial hall in 1995. The first floor houses a permanent exhibition focusing on artifacts excavated from sites within the city, including a late 7th-century chimera (shio) from the Ojiho Kiln Ruins. The second floor hosts seasonal planned exhibitions and special exhibitions.
