Katsuyama Castle Museum
A White Castle Tower That Houses an Art and History Museum
Katsuyama Castle Museum is a registered museum with a keep consisting of five stories and six floors, which opened in 1992. The Katsuyama Castle Museum is Japan’s tallest building in the style of a castle tower, at 57.8 meters tall. The museum’s collection includes items from local culture, samurai armor and swords, and various works of art. The top floor offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area.
From the observation deck on the top floor, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the Katsuyama cityscape, which has a history dating back to the Paleolithic Age, the beautiful nature registered as a Geopark, and the former premises of Hakusan Heisenji Temple, which is registered as a national historic site.
