The Great Cedar of Inari

Deep within the grounds of Suwa Azuki Shrine, about five minutes up a mountain path, it stands tall as if watching over Ikeda Town. This giant cedar, one of the largest in the Hokuriku region, stands 40 meters tall with a trunk circumference of over 10 meters. It is a sacred tree enshrining the deities Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Izanami-no-Mikoto and is designated a Prefectural Natural Monument.
