Sunaba Aji-no-Kami Shrine

Ikeda Town's Sōsha Shrine, with over 1300 years of history

The main hall, built approximately 500 years ago, is a graceful shrine designated as a National Important Cultural Property. Its architecture masterfully blends Japanese, Tang, and Indian styles. The vermilion-lacquered mountain gate within the precincts, a remnant of the former Shinto-Buddhist syncretism, together with the cedar grove, creates a solemn atmosphere. Ascending the mountain path and stairs deep within the shrine grounds, you will find the towering "Inari's Great Cedar," one of the largest cedars in the Hokuriku region, said to be over a thousand years old.
