Fukui Station Dinosaur Plaza
At "Dinosaur Square" on the west side of JR Fukui Station, visitors are greeted by a 7.3-meter-wide by 4.6-meter-tall dinosaur optical illusion that appears to leap out from the wall, a massive 45-meter-wide by 10-meter-tall dinosaur illustration covering the wall, and three life-size, moving monuments of the Fukuiraptor, Fukuisaurus, and Fukuititan—dinosaurs that once inhabited the Fukui region! This space, true to Fukui’s reputation as the “Kingdom of Dinosaurs,” is a popular spot for meeting up and taking commemorative photos. Nearby shopping centers also sell a wide variety of dinosaur merchandise.
★There are plenty of dinosaur spots not only at the West Exit Plaza but also around Fukui Station, including the East Exit Plaza!
