Rokuroshi Plateau
The highland area, with its idyllic pastoral scenery, is home to a wealth of attractions where you can fully enjoy the outdoors, including the "Okuetsu Highland Ranch" where dairy cows graze, the "Toron Onsen Urara-kan" where you can enjoy open-air baths, the "Oku Echizen Dairy Farm Shop & Restaurant" where you can experience making dairy products, and the "Sora to Daichi" campground.
The starry sky viewed from the Rokuroshi Plateau is one of Japan’s premier stargazing spots, offering a majestic and mystical night sky rarely seen elsewhere!
In 2005, it was certified as having “Japan’s Most Beautiful Starry Sky” in the “National Continuous Starry Sky Observation” project (conducted by the Ministry of the Environment and the Japan Environment Association).
Additionally, the Minami-Rokushi area was certified by Dark Sky International as a “Dark Sky Reserve®”—the fourth such designation in Japan. It is also the first certification in Asia under the “Urban Night Sky Place” category, which recognizes areas near cities that have implemented excellent night sky conservation measures!!
