Gotaishi Falls
Southwest of Mt. Kunimi, along the upper reaches of the Ikō River, lies the renowned waterfall. The clear stream plunges dramatically from a 20-meter cliff. Its roaring sound, reminiscent of drumbeats, has earned it the alternate name "Narutaki" (Roaring Falls). A walking trail follows the stream; come early summer, the chirping of Japanese river minnows echoes through the babbling brook, creating a refreshing hiking course. Legend also holds that descendants of Emperor Ojin resided in this area.
