Umeda Garden (Nationally Designated Scenic Spot)
This garden is a pond-viewing style landscape garden that served as the residence of the Umeda clan, a powerful family in Ikeda Village.
The Umeda family descended from Taira no Morimori and established their residence here after the Kurikara and Shinohara battles.
It is an elegant garden that well preserves the characteristics of the late Kamakura to Muromachi periods, allowing visitors to feel its timeless beauty.
It consists of the main garden to the east, a landscape garden with ponds and streams, and flat gardens to the south and west. The winding pond features two streams drawn from the rear, which divide and cascade down as waterfalls.
Moss covers the entire garden, creating a profoundly serene landscape.
Recognized as a valuable asset for understanding the spread of garden culture, it was designated a National Scenic Spot in 1977.
