Hino Shrine
A shrine at the trailhead of Mount Hinoyama, also known as Echizen Fuji. It also houses Japan's oldest "Four Seasons of Farming" votive plaque.
Hinozan Shrine, located at the trailhead of Mount Hinozan—also known as Echizen Fuji and a sacred mountain since ancient times—houses its inner sanctuary at the summit. During the summer "Hinozan Festival," participants first dedicate sacred kagura dances at the worship hall before climbing through the night. They keep vigil by bonfires until dawn to greet the sunrise. At the Ema Hall, you can see Japan's oldest "Four Seasons Farming" ema, dedicated in 1665. This large piece depicts the work involved in rice cultivation, from planting seedlings to weeding, harvesting, and threshing.
