An'yoji Temple

The first lord of Ichijōdani, Takakage Asakura, established it in Ichijōdani, and Katsuie Shibata rebuilt it.

In 1473, Asakura Takakage (Eirin), the first lord of Ichijōdani, established this temple in Ichijōdani. In 1567, it became the residence of Ashikaga Yoshiaki, the 15th shogun of the Muromachi shogunate. After the fall of the Asakura clan, it was rebuilt at its present location by Shibata Katsuie in 1574. It houses the "Amida Trinity and Twenty-Five Bodhisattvas Coming to Welcome" painting, designated a National Important Cultural Property. In spring, visitors can enjoy the weeping cherry trees within the precincts.
